The Princess Theatre

As a Brisbane institution established in 1888, The Princess Theatre needed to be both respected and reinvented. With new stewardship from the team behind The Tivoli and a bold, yet timeless brand, the future is looking good for The Princess.

#Brand

The brand takes its inspiration from the beautiful old theatre building – a rare thing in Brisbane – with its graceful arches, blocky sans-serif signage and illustrative carving and embellishment. We wanted to use these elements without being vintage or cliche and instead be youthful and modern while still maintaining a foot in the past. The brand developed into a patchwork of elements – textures, illustrations, arches, frames & typography – that all come together in a rich layering of styles that reflect a building that has been many things in its lifetime and more to come in the future.
